What makes us different?
GastroMedicine & Endoscopy have a team of specialist doctors who all work in the field of Gastrointestinal disease. We provide open access, as well as a consultation service, and investigative procedures.All of our specialists have close working relationships forged over many years. You will always be able to see the doctor of your choice, but if he or she is not available, there is always a like-minded specialist available to help you. As all medical notes are kept centrally, they can, with your permission be available to any of our specialists who need to see you.
For most gastrointestinal problems we can offer a seamless pathway from diagnosis to treatment, and where we cannot, we can arrange referrals through our extensive network of expert colleagues, drawn from the local medical community in order to get you the best possible treatment and advice.

How to prepare for an appointment
For initial or follow-up consultation appointments, you will need to bring your GP referral, your medicare card, any pension or health care cards, and any Private Health insurance cards.
For procedures, there are different preparation instructions depending on the type of procedure that you are having at GastroMedicine & Endoscopy.

If you are having an Iron Infusion you do not need any preparation for your appointment. Please bring along payment, with your referral from your family doctor, your Medicare care card and associated pension or health care cards, and any private health insurance cards.
When you leave
Once your procedure is complete and your specialist agrees that you are well enough to go home to carry on recovering you will be discharged. This will be a straight forward process but you will be given further information by your nurse that you may find useful.
Your specialist may write a prescription for medications to take home with you, which will need to be dispensed at the pharmacy. The pharmacist can talk to you about how to take them correctly and talk to you about any side effects.
All patients are provided with detailed discharge instructions, which will include information about what you may experience following the procedure, what is important for you to follow after your procedure and any medication instructions.
At discharge, you will also be provided with full contact details of our centres and your specialist in case you or any family members have any concerns after hours.
For Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and Iron Infusions; If you have private health insurance, you will be covered by any agreement that exists between GastroMedicine & Endoscopy and your insurer. You should ask your insurer to confirm that it will cover your treatment and make sure you are aware of any exceptions in your policy. If you have no exceptions (and your health fund has a full agreement with us) then you will have nothing to pay for your admission to one of our centres.
Patients who have an excess, or If you do not have private health insurance, you will be asked to make a payment pay adeposit when you arrive which are the Hospital charges. These fees cover the services we provide directly for you whilst you are here, such as nursing care, 24 hour access to our specialists in an emergency, medical supplies, use of medical and surgical equipment, and general housekeeping. These fees are billed separately from specialists and other professional fees.
Specialist fees including Gastroenterologists and Anaesthetists fees are ALL directly billed to Medicare or your health funds so there are no out of pocket fees.
Some patients may have a fee upon discharge; this may occur if polyps are removed or if haemorrhoids are injected, buthowever one of our receptionists can discuss this with you when you make your appointment for your procedure.
For all other appointments including consultations, reviews, Capsule Endoscopy and breath testing, please contact us and we can explain any relevant fees to you in detail.
